George Saunder's Advice to Graduates

Sanders is arguing kindness and never to regret opportunities to be kind. He's effective by using his humor and his own personal experiences. For examples he says No, I don't regret. Skinny-dipping in a river in Sumatra, a little buzzed, and looking up and down into the river, there river in which was swimming with my mouth open, naked? and getting deathly ill afterwards, and staying sick from the next seven months Not so much. He's say live life to the fullest. The reason he's arguing persuing you to be kind he says But heres something I do regret: In the seventh grad he had this kid in his class and she was contstantly picked on but mr. Sanders never picked on her he actually would occasionally defend her and never said a unkind word to her. Then he instates that situation bothered him, He personally experienced some get picked on at that moment he realized that what he regret most in his life was " failures of kindness." George Saunders small story of his airplane experience inspire his speech. He had an almost death experience in that airplane I bet at that moment everything flashed before his eyes and made him realize after he survived that to never regret and live life to the fullest and to be kind because its better to do then to regret.  In my opinion It's his testimoney and he shares it with everyone to inspire people and to teach lessons with his life experiences to touch his readers.

Lying

Intentional lying can be a expectable every now and then but you can't overdue it. By overdue it I mean telling a lie you get the chance.Recently me and had to exaggerate a lie. We had to tell my six year old nephew that his mommy was in a wreck and that she was in a deep sleep and everything was going to be okay but really we knew shouldn't be okay and she was really in a coma. My nephew was so young and we knew he wouldn't understand if we told him the truth so we intentionally lied. I think in those circumstances its okay to lie to protect the people you love or protect their feelings. Under those circumstances its okay but not if your lying to protect yourself because you're embarrassed for an example is cheating on someone but hen i can understand you don't want hurt someones feeling because you feel bad and you don't want to hurt their feelings. But I know when you start to tell lies it will start turning into compulsive lying and you won't even realize when you are lying and when your not. Then evenutaully you start believing your own lies so I would choose wisely when your going to lie its okay every now and then but not all the time because it can be dangerous.

Pope Franics' speech to Congress

Aliyah Frumin from MSNBC made some criticism on the Pope for saying they to abolish the death penalty.Aliyah implied that she was vehemitly  opposed to abolish the death penalty. The Pope said in his speech " Our world increasingly  a place of violent conflicted, hatred and brutal atrocities, committed even in the name of God and religion." The issue is violence in todays society, when someone commits murder they might get sentenced the death penalty. I agree and disagree because I don't understand how someone can be so cruel and be okay with it and hiding what they did and also being okay with themselves. I believe justice needs to be served with death penalty but  it depends on what happened in the situation. but then again getting sentenced to over twenty five years in a cell where all you can do and think about what you did is bad enough but also it depends on who the person is. The reason I disagree is because in the bible God says in the ten commandments it says thow shall not kill its going against Gods word and we should follow Gods will or else. I was raised very religous but then I also understand why we have the death penalty. I agree with the Pope and also with Aliyah.

"Being at the service of dialogue and peace also means being truly determined to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts:throughout our world. Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on indviduals and society? Sadly, the answer is, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and stop the arms trade." The issue is money, everything is controlled by money and well power. Money has gone to everyones head that it makes everyone cloudy in the head you could say. I agree and disagree. I agree because we are shedding innocent blood and I disagree because its all we known to do to fix things in this world is fighting and using money, and we don't know any different because thats what was taught.

What really stood out to me was when Pope Francis said "all of us are quite aware of and political situation of the world today." That the  government  is making poor choices and is influenced by the wrong thing which is a money and not influenced by the  wrong thing which making are government to fumble and also are world is increasingly a place of violent conflict, hatred sand brutal atrocities, committed even in the name of God and of or ideological extremism. Him that to me is our society is focusing on the wrong things such as hatred on people, when we really should be more welcoming to others.

About Me

My name is Olivia and im nineteen years old, I attend Blinn college. Growing up everyone finds that one thing that makes them keep going in life that one love. Well the one thing you should know about me Im intrigue with the game of basketball and that is my one love. The month of December year 2014 my senior of high school I joined the Legacy Christian Varsity girls basketball team. The last time I played basketball for team was in the eighth grade only because through out the years I had broken my both wrists four different times. But I thought to myself my senior year you love the game of basketball and chances are after you graduate you'll never get to play for a team again. When I joined I was so nervous only because everyone has more experience then I did. I played in my backyard or with friends but not with actual team and coaches in about four years. Also there was this one girl on the basketball team who was supposedly suppose to be ranked number four in the nation and she was only a freshman her name was Alexis Morris, I had spanish class with her and she was telling my classmates all of this and we didn't believe her. So she said google me and we did all of are mouths dropped open. She was the female Michael Jordan she was one the who really talked me into playing because they needed more girls. We only had seven people on are team everyone said we wouldn't go far and that we would be the joke at Legacy Christian Academy. But no one really knew about Alexis Morris, She averaged about thirty points per game and I averaged about 13. By the year 2017 she's suppose to be ranked number one guard in the country. Every practice LSU, Baylor, and A&M would come and scout her and it was very intimidating. She knew she was the best but she was your typical basketball player who hogged the ball. One game we were playing West Orange Stark it was 50 to 48 at half time we were in locker and are coaches were yelling at us because it shouldn't have been that close we should've been blowing them out. Alexis started talking to the team and she looked at me and everyone else and said I might be number four in the nation but it takes a team to win not just one player and all of you have special job on this team. She also quoted Lebron James and said ''Don't be afraid of failure this is the way to succeed.'' That moment I fell in love with the game of basketball. We ended up winning that game and after that we won all the rest of are games and became District champs and also went to third round of playoffs we were also a 1A school with seven people on the team. That day in that locker room when she quoted Lebron James something just clicked in me and I fell in love with the game because of her and I also found myself playing basketball. I found a reason to wake up everyday again basketball gave me motivation to do better in school and also to be a better person. If you want to see what I'm talking about Alexis Morris being great and how she inspired me watch the video and maybe it well change you and get you motivated.
